The Challenge

AI assistants, agents, and co-pilots have evolved over the last years, becoming increasingly sophisticated in understanding complex research and development data, automating routine tasks, and enhancing decision-making processes, driving innovation and efficiency in research and development. In this competition, we invite individuals and researchers from around the world to solve one of 3 challenges in a limited amount of time together with an AI agent of their choice.

That team with the best submitted solution with respect to the judging criteria wins the challenge and receives the prize money of 10,000 euros.

  • Novelty of generated hypothesis for how to solve the presented challenge
  • Quality of in-silico generated results underlining feasibility of hypothesis
  • Overall completeness and quality of scientific paper

Registration for this challenge opens on 1. June and closes on 30. June 2026.

Who can participate?

Anyone from around the world may participate, as an individual or in a team where not prohibited by local or country law. This challenge is not open to Health Care Professionals.

How does it work?

  • Human researchers (individuals or teams) register for participation in the competition on our portal together with their AI co-scientist/agentic AI.
  • Registration is open from 1 June 2026 - 30 June 2026 23.59 CEST (central european summer time) by completing the online registration form and accepting the terms and conditions.
  • The exact challenge text is revealed simultaneously to all registered individuals and teams.
  • 3 different challenges will be offered, each applicant can choose 1 preferred out of the 3 offered challenges to work on.
  • Participants will have 48 hrs to submit their solution to the challenge comprising a 5-page ready-to-publish scientific paper describing hypothesis and in-silico generated results.
  • The submitted solution should include graphics and a description on how the results were generated.
  • The winner, based on the judging criteria, receives a 10,000 prize and will be invited to present their paper in a 15min talk on 14 August 2026 at the finals of the Innovation Cup.

Applicants retain any rights in their AI agent and developed solution.
