FAST FUNDING FOR SCIENTISTS

We are dedicated to accelerating innovation and advancing science for most neglected populations. That’s why we want to catalyze research in an open innovation spirit as well as reduce the financial hurdles. We have invited pre-clinical researchers in the field of schistosomiasis to apply to our fast-funding program: the SCHISTOSOMIASIS RESEARCH GRANT Initiative. The Call for Proposal closed on October 31, 2021.

Who can apply

Researchers in the field of schistosomiasis were invited to apply by October 31st 2024 23.59 CET. Funding is available for impactful and translational research. We welcomed applications coming from endemic and/or low- and middle-income countries.

Healthcare professionals may not be funded by this initiative for formal and legal reasons.

The benefits

If your application is approved by our committee, you can benefit from financial support in the form of a grant of €30,000 per project. We want to accelerate your project’s potential. That’s why grant funding will be made available within weeks of us receiving your application if your project receives a positive decision.

2024 Awardees

10 projects have been selected based on scientific merit with topics spanning drug resistance, female genital schistosomiasis, drug discovery, modelling & simulation, immunology, 3D cell cultures, biomarker and snail biology. Winners benefit from financial support in the form of a grant of 30,000 Euro. They also keep all rights to results and their respective IP.

15 projects were selected considering a holistic approach spanning from drug resistance, drug discovery, immunology, diagnostics and vector surveillance. Winners benefit from financial support in the form of a grant of 30,000 Euro. They also keep all rights to results and their respective IP.

How does it work

To apply for the Speed Grant Initiative, you need to send us an email at globalhealthresearch@merckgroup.com by October 31st 23.59 CET expressing your interest to receive the relevant application documents. 

All information submitted in the application is considered non-confidential. Please ensure you have permission to disclose any information you share on the application form.

Applicants will keep all rights to results and the respective IP.

Merck will accept or decline applications at our own discretion. The awardees will be announced on November 10th 2024.
