Thomas is Executive Director of EMD Digital at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. As such, he is in charge of the “tokenization” of various business processes using blockchain technology. Thomas received his Ph.D. in Quantum Optics from University Munich and worked in several international management & strategy positions before joining us in 2015.

He received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Bath, UK and worked in various positions at IBM Research from 2000 until 2018. During this time, his team was a key contributor to the Hyperledger Blockchain Project. Andreas's research interests include industrial cybersecurity, distributed ledger technologies, and Internet of Things.
