Schistosomiasis, affecting almost 240 million people, is a highly prevalent parasitic disease in sub-Saharan Africa, and one of the most damaging diseases in terms of public health burden and economic impact.  Transformative health solutions as well as innovative access mechanisms are needed to fight schistosomiasis.

The Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium invites to celebrate the official launch of its ADOPT program – an implementation research program that paves the way for the large-scale delivery of a child-friendly formulation to treat schistosomiasis in preschool-aged children in endemic countries.

The event will welcome an expert line-up of speakers including Dr Jutta Reinhard-Rupp, Chair of the Consortium Board and Head of the Global Health Institute at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany; Dr Mwelecele Ntuli Malecela, Director of the World Health Organization Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases; as well as representatives from funding partners, the Global Health Innovative Technology Fund (GHIT) and the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP).
