Research Challenges are for curious scientists that are interested in working with us. This is a competition format providing reward and recognition to the best performing teams as judged by transparent clear criteria. The process is designed in several real-life scenarios where our scientists learn with our external partners about applications of new types of data and new types of materials. In several touchpoints, participants have the chance to receive feedback from evaluation teams and juries providing valuable advice and guidance in research areas that are full of challenging and typically pre-competitive research questions.

On the occasion of our 350th anniversary in 2018, we awarded five research challenges in the areas of compound synthesis, protein production, innovative analytics, diabetes prevention and next game-changing technologies.
