As part of our 350th anniversary celebrations, we are challenging innovators in the field of prediabetes / diabetes prevention to share their ideas with us. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany will provide funding for the most innovative ideas with the goal of helping people at risk of type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is one of today’s most alarming global public health challenges [1]. If trends continue, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) projects that 693 million people will be living with type 2 diabetes by 2045, a disease burden that will severely impact future healthcare resources [2]. That’s why we are supporting prevention-focused initiatives and technologies aimed at lowering the incidence of type 2 diabetes globally.
Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, is curious to hear about innovative technology and digitally-driven solutions that can make a positive impact on the lives of millions of people at risk of type 2 diabetes.
If you have an innovation that is up to the challenge, send us a detailed description of your idea. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, will (at its own discretion) award prizes of EUR 30,000, EUR 10,000, and EUR 5,000 to the three most innovative projects.
Entries must be submitted by the 15th August 2018.

How does it work?
- Applications by August 15th 2018 (please make sure you read and accept the terms and conditions before you submit your application form)
- We shortlist (at our own discretion) the most innovative applicants
- Start of bilateral discussion with the top selected submitters to better understand the proposals and their impact for improving diabetes prevention
- Winners will be nominated and awarded in a dedicated public ceremony
Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany will award prizes of EUR 30,000, EUR 10,000, and EUR 5,000 to the three most innovative projects. Furthermore, the selected participants will have the chance to gain access to potential collaborations within Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, which include access to enabling resources and contacts.
