Safety is one of Merck's top priorities, and we are committed to creating an accident-free working environment through various safety activities. In November 2023, Merck Korea's safety efforts were recognized by the government. The Anseong site received the 'Gyeonggi Governor's Commendation for Hazardous Goods Management and Fire Prevention' in honour of Fire Fighting Day, and the Ansan site won the 'Prime Minister's Commendation' at the 2023 Korea Gas Safety Awards.

Merck Taiwan wins the 2023 Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award and the Foreign Business Rising Star Award from Common Wealth Magazine. Companies in Taiwan were evaluated across four main aspects: Corporate Governance, Corporate Commitment, Social Engagement, and Environmental Sustainability.

Merck introduced new barrier materials that offer superior flexibility, higher reliability, and longer lifetime in flexible OLED devices compared to existing solutions. The innovative ALD material won the Display Component of The Year 2023 award from SID, the world’s biggest display society.

Merck won the gold award of National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award in Taiwan with its environmental contributions and sustainability commitments. Dr. David Same-Ting Chen, the Taoyuan Site Director and Taiwan Sustainability Program Lead, was honored to be invited to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen.
