Sarah spent most of her early career as a research scientist in medicinal chemistry. After earning a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, she transitioned to a business role focusing on chemical technology enablement at MilliporeSigma. She served as Head of Chemical Synthesis Innovation before moving on to manage the commercial development of SYNTHIA™, an advanced retrosynthesis design software for pharmaceutical chemists. Before leaving the company, Sarah was our Director and Head of Cheminformatics Technologies.

Timothy Cernak

Tim studied Organic Synthesis at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (BSc 2002), McGill University (PhD 2007) and Columbia University (Postdoc 2007-2009) before starting his career in the pharmaceutical industry. After nine years in chemical informatics and automation, Tim joined the University of Michigan as an assistant professor of medicinal chemistry. The University of Michigan's Cernak Lab conducts research at the intersection of chemical synthesis and computer science.
